The project

eat : an american bistro is an upscale yet laid-back restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Renowned for its creative cuisine served in a casual, come-as-you-are atmosphere, they wanted an identity that felt fun, tongue-in-cheek, and effortlessly cool.

What we did

We designed a logo using a grungy typeface to convey the restaurant’s relaxed vibe and lack of pretension. The tagline, “A basic human need,” was a natural fit, playing off the simplicity and essential nature of the name. This laid-back attitude was carried through to all brand materials, including the website, gift cards, and even a wall inside the restaurant featuring the Webster definition of “eat.”.

The outcome

The result was a cohesive brand identity that perfectly captured the restaurant’s playful yet refined character. The logo and tagline resonated with patrons, reinforcing the fun, no-fuss dining experience. The consistent branding across the website and physical spaces helped solidify eat’s unique atmosphere and identity, attracting a loyal, engaged customer base.
